Description
No. 12 Cheapside is a building dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It features a stuccoed exterior with modern applied sham timber framing and a slate roof with gable ends. The building has a moulded stone cornice and blocking course, and it stands four storeys tall.
There are three windows on the facade, with the third floor center window being blank. The first floor has a panel set in a shouldered moulded architrave with a keystone. All the windows are restored sashes with glazing bars. Two original first floor sashes are flanked by narrow panelled pilasters and an entablature. The ground floor, dating from the 19th century, has decorated flat pilasters with a fascia above. At each end, there are panelled wide double doors with rectangular fanlights, while the central section has a modern window.
The rear of the building is early 18th century, constructed of stuccoed brick and featuring a heavy modillion eaves cornice. It is two storeys high with two windows, which are obscured by a fire escape.
