Description
No. 44 Sitwell Street is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century, with alterations and additions made in the late 19th century. It is constructed of red brick and features plain tile roofs. The building has a first-floor brick band and dentillated eaves. It has a single ridge and two gable stacks.
At the center, there is a brick porch with an ashlar coped gable and a single round-headed glazing bar window. On either side of the porch are single sash windows with upper glazing bars. To the right, there is a doorway with a moulded brick surround and a 20th-century door, followed by a double sash window with upper glazing bars. To the left, there is a similar double sash window. Above these, there are four sash windows with upper glazing bars, and above again, two 19th-century gabled dormers, one featuring a plain sash and the other a 20th-century casement. Most windows have segment brick heads.
