Description
The former Engine Shed, dating from around 1830, is a significant remnant of the original Midland Region Railway Station, which was part of Francis Thompson's "Trijunct" Station. The building is constructed of red brick and features a well-crafted, heavily-timbered polyhedral roof covered with slate. The shed has a unique 16-sided plan, with an interior width of approximately 130 feet. Originally, it accommodated 30 locomotives, but it is currently utilized as a repair shop. The shed is now surrounded by later buildings.
