Description

North Parade consists of a stone terraced range built around 1835, with alterations made later. The building comprises sixteen properties, numbered 1 to 16. It is two storeys high. Each property generally features two sash windows, typically without glazing bars, and a continuous sill band runs along the façade. The doorways are plain, with pilasters supporting entablatures that include paterae and brattishing detail resembling acroteria above the cornices. Above each door is a rectangular fanlight, some of which retain geometric-pattern glazing bars. Several doors are six-panelled. Number 16 has a later 19th-century canted bay window. The building has bold, lined eaves and a slate roof, with a hipped design at each end of the range. The left-hand side features a splayed return with a corner doorway leading to number 1. Numbers 1 to 16 form a cohesive group.
