Description

95 Northgate is a substantial house built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is two storeys high with three wide bays and a central attic set within a wide pediment. There is also a two-storey, two-window south wing. The house is constructed of red brick and features low pitched roofs made of stone slates. The main structure has rebated angles and a wide round-arched central recess that interrupts the cornice. Stone cill bands are present on both floors, along with stone plinths. The sash windows, which have glazing bars, are adorned with finely gauged flat brick arches. In the left bay of the wing, there is a finely gauged elliptical carriage arch leading to Shillitoe Yard, which holds double doors, each consisting of six panels. The main house has canted bays with classical detailing flanking a six-panel door that features an oblong fanlight within a wooden architrave. Additionally, there is a frieze decorated with garlands, a console bracketed cornice, and a pediment above.
