Description

The building at 2 and 4 Wentworth Terrace comprises a pair of townhouses dating from around 1800, with an addition constructed around 1900. Constructed from red brick with painted stone dressings and a slate roof, the building features three chimney stacks. The main structure is three stories and four bays wide. A projecting addition from around 1900 occupies the ground floor, featuring a central doorway with a part-glazed door and fanlight, set within a segmental-headed opening with a keystone and flanked by Doric pilasters. To either side of this doorway are single tripartite sash windows with upper glazing bars and segmental heads. This addition is topped by a moulded cornice, with a central swan-neck pediment. To the right, set back, is a similar doorway with a part-glazed door and fanlight, flanked by Doric pilasters. Above the ground floor, there are four plain sash windows on each floor, with the upper floors featuring smaller plain sash windows. The building is included on the list for its group value.
