Description
The war memorial at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School was built between 1921 and 1922. It is made of ashlar stone and bronze and has a square plan. The monument features a tall square Classical design with a low base and a stepped plinth. The front of the base has the inscription in bronze, "THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE," while the sides display bronze plaques listing the names of those who died in the Great War. Above the base, fluted Doric pilasters at each corner support an entablature and frieze. The main front includes a bronze sword of remembrance and the school coat-of-arms encircled by a laurel wreath. At the top of the monument is a bronze sculpture of a bugler.
