Description

The Village Cross is a structure that likely dates back to the late medieval period. It features a sandstone construction with an octagonal base consisting of three high steps, measuring approximately 4 meters in diameter. Above the base is a low octagonal pedestal, supporting a stop-chamfered shaft topped with a moulded cap and a ball finial. The cross is prominently located near the junction with Pontefract Road.
