Description

The monument to the Battle of Wakefield, located to the east of Manygates School on Manygates Lane, was built in 1897 by W T Thresh of Wakefield. It features an octagonal column on a plinth, topped with gabled arcading beneath a short spire. The arcading includes figures and symbols in its panels. An inscription on the plinth reads: "Richard Plantagenet fell here December 30 1460."
