Description
The stable block, located approximately 50 metres south-west of Fryston Hall Farmhouse, dates from the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed from magnesian limestone ashlar with a stone slate roof and has a rectangular plan. The building is two storeys high and consists of nine bays in a classical style, featuring a symmetrical design. The central three bays project slightly and are topped with an open pediment. This section includes a round-headed entrance archway with impost bands, which have been restored in sandstone, and is flanked by coved niches. The side ranges have tall rectangular windows on the ground floor and lower windows above. The roof is hipped, and at its center is the square base of a former clock tower, which has a blind oculus on each side. The rear of the building is made of rubble, and a former rear wing has been demolished. There is a shelter now attached to the front wall, but it is not included in this listing.
