Description
Bushcliff House is a mid-18th century house with a slightly later addition, located off Barnsley Road in Notton. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. It stands two storeys high and has a two-cell, direct-entry, double-depth layout with a three-bay facade. The exterior includes quoins and a band, with a central doorway that has monolithic jambs, flanked by windows with deep lintels on each floor, although the glazing has been altered to casements. The gable is coped and features kneelers and stacks. To the left, there is an added lower bay with a quoined angle and a window on each floor, also with a deep lintel and a gable stack.
Inside, the house has stop-chamfered spine beams of large scantling. The first floor contains two small fireplaces with decorative cast-iron grates. The dog-leg staircase features decorative splat balusters, although they are damaged. The addition has a fish-bone king-post roof. At the time of the resurvey, the house was unoccupied.
