Description

This sundial, dated 1813, is located on an island to the rear of Walton Hall. It was created by G. Boulby and is made of ashlar with copper gnomens. The square plinth features recessed panelled sides and a carved scalloped roundel in relief, along with a cyma-moulded cornice. Atop the plinth is an elaborate multi-gnomened polyhedron, which is engraved with "Lat. 53 40 1N" and indicates the time in various locations around the world, including Amsterdam, Rome, Warsaw, Moscow, Pekin, Basil, Madras, Madrid, Mexico, Philadelphia, Demerara, and Boston.
