Description

This early 19th-century textile mill entrance range, now used as shops, was built for Abraham Rhodes. It is located on Buslingthorpe Lane, Buslingthorpe, Leeds. The building is constructed of coursed squared gritstone with a stone slate roof, and has an L-shaped layout with a single- and two-storey range extending to the northeast. The road-facing facade has five upper-floor windows and features a large ashlar four-centred arch with voussoirs and impost blocks. A narrow doorway is on the right, with two doorways and a shop window to the left. There are two square windows on the upper floor, with stone sills and lintels, and a small window under the eaves on the right; two windows have been enlarged or inserted on the left. Short brick end stacks are present. The rear elevation, visible from the yard, contains a cart entrance and a round-arched pedestrian entrance to the left. There are small windows with possible side-sliding sashes under the eaves, square windows in the centre and right, and a cast-iron clock face fixed to the wall below the eaves on the right. A single-storey, two-bay block and a two-storey, three-bay block form the rear wing, both with replaced roofs. The interior of the building has not been inspected. The building possesses group value.
