Description
A row of four estate workers’ cottages dating from the first quarter of the 19th century, likely designed by Peter Atkinson of York for Edward Lascelles, 1st Earl of Harewood. The cottages were significantly altered in the mid-20th century. They are constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and originally had twelve first-floor windows, though only four are now original. Each of the three bays originally had a similar disposition to numbers 48, 49, and 50 Bondgate, with a window to one side of the doorway and a window in the second bay that was formerly the doorway. Three windows remain above, only the central one being original. The glazing has been altered. Four stone ridge stacks are present. At the rear, each cottage has a mid-20th-century flat-roofed extension that doesn't match the original style. The cottages are listed for their group value.
