Description

No. 40 Harrogate Road is a house built in the first quarter of the 19th century, possibly designed by John Carr. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and a symmetrical facade with five bays. The doorway, which has an overlight, is flanked by small lower sashed windows. The other bays each contain a sash window on both floors that were originally made up of 24 panes; currently, only the top lights have small-pane glazing, while the lower ones consist of two large panes. All lintels are monolithic and feature false voussoirs, and there are gable stacks.
