Description
67 The Square is a house dating from the early 19th century, with an extension added around 1947, likely designed by Peter Atkinson for Edward Lascelles, the 1st Earl of Harewood. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. It has a central-entry plan with two cells and a double-depth layout, including a rear wing and a 20th-century extension to the left.
The house is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-bay facade. The doorway, which has tiestone jambs, features a flat arch with voussoirs and is topped by a 9-pane sash window. On either side of the doorway, there are tri-partite sash windows on both floors, all with flat arches. A gable stack is located to the left at the junction with the 20th-century extension, and there is another stack on the rear pitch at the junction with the wing. The ground floor has been altered to accommodate a garage, while the first floor retains two sash windows.
