Description

This mid-to-late 18th-century building began as a house and was later adapted for use as a Methodist chapel and a Post Office in its kitchen wing. Constructed of punch-dressed stone with a stone slate roof, it is a double-depth structure with a symmetrical three-bay facade and a two-bay wing set back at a slightly canted angle. The main facade features quoins, a doorway with an architrave, frieze, and casement-moulded cornice, along with an open inner porch containing two doors. Sash windows with 16 panes and raised surrounds are located above and flanking the doorway. Coped gables with kneelers and stacks with a moulded cornice are also present. The right-hand wing has windows with flush plain-stone surrounds and 12-pane sashes, with smaller 9-pane sashes above. An ashlar eaves band runs along the top. A lateral stack is located on the right-hand return, visible only through a doorway leading to the Post Office.
