Description
The boundary wall and gateway to the east of Number 1 Grosvenor Terrace is a mid-19th century structure made of squared gritstone, featuring rounded coping. The wall is approximately 50 meters long and 1.5 meters high, although it is reduced in height in some areas. At the southern end, set back slightly, there is a short length of railing and a pair of gates supported by cast-iron posts. The double gates have bars and dog bars, adorned with leaf finials. The cylindrical posts are marked with the maker's name: 'WM. TOWER:GLOBE FOUNDRY:LEEDS'. The railings connect to monolithic piers with rounded tops. This gateway is part of the boundary of Grosvenor Terrace, although it is not original, as a small building is depicted on the 1850 Ordnance Survey map. The structure is included for its group value.
