Description

Number 30 is an offices and warehouse building with a basement and attached railings, dating from around 1870 and altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of red and polychrome brick with ashlar and stone dressings, topped with a slate roof and featuring cast-iron railings. The building is in the Gothic Revival style and comprises five storeys and a basement, with three two-window bays.

The basement and ground floor are faced in ashlar, the basement being rusticated. The main entrance is centrally positioned with steps leading to a gabled doorway featuring crockets and a pointed arch supported by pink granite columns with carved capitals, above which is a semicircular fanlight. The ground floor also has two two-light Gothic pointed-arch windows with pink granite columns and a continuous dripmould. The first floor features smaller two-light pointed-arch windows with granite columns and a continuous dripmould. The second and third floors have two-light depressed pointed arches. The fourth floor exhibits three three-light high Gothic arched windows, with a taller centre light, and a crocketed gable above. A quatrefoil pierced stone parapet sits above a carved, corbelled cornice. String courses mark the sill levels, and end stacks have stone caps.

The interior was not inspected during the listing process. The attached railings feature panels with cusped arches and pointed standards, with a gate on the right. In 1886, the building was occupied as a cap factory and warehouse.
