Description
The garden wall and gateway to North Grange is a boundary wall dating from the early 19th century, with possible alterations from the later 19th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble arranged in diminishing courses, featuring one ashlar pier and monolithic stone gate piers topped with rounded stone coping. The wall stretches approximately 100 meters, enclosing the house and garden on the south and east sides, adjacent to Headingley Lane and North Grange Road. The height of the wall varies, reaching about 6 meters at the northern end, where it ramps down to a square-section ashlar pier with a moulded capstone. A lower section of the wall is approximately 2 meters high and includes a pedestrian gateway with square-section piers, a moulded base and cornice, and a pyramidal capstone with a finial, although the gate itself is missing. This structure is included for its group value.
