Description

North Grange is a large house dating from the early 19th century, with additions from the later 19th century. The original core is constructed of ashlar, while the additions are of coursed gritstone rubble, all topped with hipped slate roofs. The original house is two storeys and five bays wide by four bays long, with corner pilasters. The east facade features a central entrance with a four-panel door; the top two panels are glazed and there’s a traceried overlight within a plain, corniced surround. Sashes with glazing bars are present throughout, though the windows in bays two (ground and first floors) and four (first floor) are blind. A continuous sill band runs across the first floor. Decorative cornices and a shallow blocking course are also visible, along with corniced stacks to the left and right of the roof ridge. A projecting range has been added to the right side, incorporating three-light windows with eight panes in a splayed corner. The left return displays similar fenestration and detailing to the front, including blind windows in bay three. The interior remains uninspected.
