Description
This description covers a tomb chest and gravestone located approximately 5 metres south of the south-east corner of the south chapel of the Church of St. Oswald in Rothwell, Methley. The tomb chest, situated to the west of a yew tree, belongs to Richard Snowden of Shadwell and is dated 1767. It features bevelled edges but is otherwise undecorated. The gravestone, located to the east of the tree, commemorates Elizabeth, the wife of William Arnold of Methley, and dates back to 1714. It has a ropework border, a scrolled foot, and includes a verse in the lower half, which is largely illegible.
