Description
The Lodge at Cookridge Hospital, now serving as the office for the Radiation Protection Service, was built in 1868 by architect Richard Norman Shaw. This two-storey building with an attic features a stone plinth and a red brick ground floor with stone detailing. The first floor and gables are tile-hung, topped with a tiled roof. The building is designed in a Vernacular Revival style. The entrance is located on the right side, flanked by two 3-light mullion windows. The upper floor is supported by deep wooden brackets and features a deep jettied design with a 5-light oriel window. A projecting gable includes a small attic window above, and there is a gabled half-dormer on the returns. A central brick chimney is also present. The interior has not been inspected.
