Description
Nos. 17 and 18 Albion Place, which also includes No. 60 Briggate, is a pair of shops and offices built in the early 20th century and altered in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of brick and terracotta with a slate roof and has three storeys with attics, featuring five bays and a corner site with a narrow angled bay and a one-bay left return (No. 60 Briggate).
The ground floor has a late 20th-century shop facade, with an entrance to the chambers located far right, topped with a segmental hood. On the first floor, there are cross windows, with the outer bays flanked by narrow lights and banded pilasters. The second floor has similar fenestration, with a dentilled sill and cornice band. The attic storey features elaborately moulded entablatures and segmental pediments above the dormers in bays one and four, along with a moulded and pierced parapet between them, which is surmounted by urns. The left return mirrors the front, with an elaborate dormer that provides a strong emphasis at the corner. The interior has not been inspected.
