Description

This is a late 18th-century house located on the south side of Boston Spa High Street. The house is constructed of ashlar magnesian limestone with a Welsh slate roof. It is two storeys high and has three bays. A flight of steps leads to a central six-panel door, which is flanked by a pilastered doorcase featuring a cornice supported on fluted consoles. Above the door is a fanlight with glazing bars. The bays to either side of the central bay on both floors contain shallow bowed sash windows with glazing bars, stone sills, and concealed lintels. The first-floor sash window in the central bay also has glazing bars and a flat-arched head. A moulded eaves cornice runs along the top of the house, and later brick chimney stacks are located at the ends. The building served as a village post office in the mid-19th century.
