Description
The premises of Kirk Hall and Company, formerly known as Wortley Wesleyan Methodist Chapel, is a building constructed between 1846 and 1847, with a schoolroom added later in the 19th century and alterations made in the 20th century. The chapel features ashlar stonework and a low-pitched slate roof. The front elevation is three bays wide and includes a pedimented gable with a blocked circular light in the tympanum. There are round-headed windows on the first floor with moulded sills supported by small brackets, and a central round-arched doorway that has a fanlight and double doors. The porch slightly projects and is supported by stone pilasters that hold up an entablature. The building has chamfered quoins. On the sides, the structure rises two storeys and includes four round-headed windows. The Sunday School at the rear has a facade facing Dixon Lane Road, which features four cross windows set in steep gables with copings and moulded finials. The interior has not been inspected.
