Description
A pair of cottages dating from the mid-19th century, built for the Thorp Arch estate. They are constructed from coursed, squared magnesian limestone, with a Welsh slate roof. The cottages are two storeys high with attics, each featuring two windows on the first floor. They present as a matching pair. Each cottage has a four-panel door with an overlight, set beneath a plain lintel. To the side of the door is a 16-pane sash window with a projecting stone sill and lintel. The first-floor windows are similar sash windows. The eaves overhang, and a central yellow-brick ridge stack supports six octagonal flues rising from a shared base. The side returns feature round-arched windows on the first floor and in the attic. The cottages are included in the list for their contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
