Description
The gate piers and railings to Tower Court were built in 1878 and are located on the north side of Armley Road in Leeds. They consist of railings with three sets of gate piers and gates, made from brick, stone, and wrought iron. The structure extends across the front of Armley Primary School, featuring a low brick wall with stone coping. The railings have square-section rails, with scrolled panels flanking the standards and scrolled and gadrooned ball finials on top. The gate piers have a plinth with banded solid stone shafts that are approximately 2 meters high, and the central pair of piers retain separate moulded corniced capstones. The gates include a single leaf to the center and right, while only one of the paired gates to the left remains. There is scroll decoration above the lock and hinge bars. This structure is included for its group value.
