Description
Mexborough Farm barn and attached outbuilding is a mid-18th century structure made of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof, featuring an L-shaped plan. The barn, which has three bays, is located to the left of a two-storey, three-bay outbuilding that projects forward to the right. The barn displays quoins and has a central segmental-arched cart entry with composite jambs, skewbacks, and voussoirs, along with rectangular ventilators. The attached outbuilding features a first-floor doorway in its gable, which has monolithic jambs and a keyed lintel, accessible by a flight of 13 stone steps. The rear of the barn has a similar cart entry to the front, with two windows on the left and two over two rectangular ventilators on the right. The left-hand side of the outbuilding has three doorways with monolithic jambs and lintels, with a central door flanked by windows that have 20th-century glazing, and a window above. Inside, both ranges are supported by queen-post trusses. This building is included for its group value.
