Description

The mounting block located by the west gate of St John's Churchyard in Adel is likely from the mid 18th century. It is made of gritstone and features four steps leading up to a platform with a stone post. This structure may have been built in 1762, coinciding with the construction of a stable on the opposite side of the road for Sir Charles Sheffield of Cookridge Hall, which was demolished around 1960.
