Description
Stairfoot Bridge is a road bridge over Adel Beck, likely built around 1830. It is constructed from hammer-dressed gritstone and features a parapet made of large blocks. The upstream side of the bridge has pilasters on either side of the single round arch, along with a projecting band located below the parapet blocks. In contrast, the downstream side does not have pilasters. The bridge may have been built around the same time as the Adel dam, which was constructed in 1825 by mill owners on Adel Beck but was destroyed in a flood in 1829.
