Description

Bridge 223 over the Leeds and Liverpool Canal is a canal bridge built around 1777, with later alterations. It is constructed from dressed stone and features an elliptical or round arch, with parapets that have flat coping. The original narrow bridge was nearly doubled in width, and the parapets have been extensively rebuilt. There are remains of a pilaster on the southeast side, and a 20th-century road drainage pipe is located on the southeast face.
