Description

71 Commercial Road is a building in Leeds that dates back to the early 19th century. Originally built as workshops, it is now used as printing works. The structure is made of coursed squared gritstone and features a low pitched hipped slate roof with projecting stone eaves. It stands three storeys tall with a four-bay front, situated on a steep slope, while the rear has two storeys. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop facade, while the first floor features a sash window with margin-light glazing bars, and above it, there is a shorter window with a 20th-century casement. The left side of the building has no openings due to an advertisement obscuring part of it. On the right side, there are 20th-century windows on the ground floor and sash windows with glazing bars on the upper floors. The interior has not been inspected, and the original purpose of the building is unclear; however, the arrangement of windows suggests it may have served as a service range or workshops connected to the adjacent properties at Nos 73-75.
