Small school, partly converted to dwelling. c1811, repaired 1814, entirely rebuilt in original form at time of resurvey c1985. Hammer-dressed stone, stone slate roof. Single storey. 3 windows and door. 2-light flat-faced mullioned windows in flush stone surrounds. Doorway with tie-stone jambs has lintel inscribed:-
"Train up a Child in the Way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. Prov. 22.6 This school was repaired by the Town in the year of our Lord 1814".
This is followed by the names of the overseers and Churchwardens. Ashlar coped gables with kneelers and base of stack to left end.
This was the town school, built apparently on the site of an earlier town school.
