Description
Thornhill Lees Vicarage is a vicarage designed by Mallinson and Healey, built between 1855 and 1858, coinciding with the construction of the Church of Holy Innocents. The building features hammer dressed stone with ashlar dressings and diagonal reducing buttressing. It has a steeply gabled slate roof with tall ashlar stacks and stands two storeys high with a string course. The design is asymmetrical, with distinct entrance and garden fronts. The central entrance has an open internal arched porch with a chamfered surround. To the left of the entrance is a 6-light mullioned and transomed window with arched upper lights and a relieving arch above. Above this window is a similar one with a recessed ashlar tympanum that contains a quatrefoil. The garden front features a projecting gabled bay to the left, which includes a 10-light mullioned and transomed canted bay on the ground floor with arched upper lights. Above this is an 8-light square bay on the first floor, complete with a crenellated parapet and leaded roof.
