Description
Cleggford Bridge is a road bridge over the River Calder, built in the late 18th century with a 19th-century widening to the west that matches the original design. The bridge features hammer-dressed stone and ashlar dressings on the eastern side, while the western side is entirely of ashlar. It has a 19th-century cast iron balustrade with round bars and a frieze that is pierced with quatrefoils and circles. The structure includes five round arches, which have triangular ashlar cut-waters that are taller on the later, upstream side. There is corbelling at the base of the balustrade.
