Description
The former Railway Station Building, originally the Station Master's house, dates from the mid 19th century and is now disused. It is constructed of rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings and features quoins, with part of the building rendered. The steeply pitched slate roofs have gable copings supported by large kneelers. A central stack has triple hexagonal ashlar chimneys with caps, and there are additional stacks at each gable with double ashlar chimneys. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has gabled cross wings at each end.
On the east elevation, there is a central bay that is slightly set back, featuring a doorway framed by a large Tudor arched surround with a deep hood mould. Above this doorway is a gabled dormer with a two-light window. Each cross wing has a six-light mullioned and transomed window on the ground floor and a cross window on the first floor, along with a small single light in the apex of each gable. The west elevation includes a central single-storey canted bay with three lights.
