Description
Nos 38 and 38A on Back Lane are part of a row of buildings from the early to mid 19th century. They are constructed from hammer dressed stone and feature quoins at the north-west corner between the two properties. The roof is made of stone slate, and the buildings rise three storeys, with one additional storey at the rear.
On the south-east elevation, there is a blocked doorway flanked by a 5-light stone mullioned window on each side, along with another doorway to the right. The north-west elevation has two doorways on the ground floor, one with a 4-light stone mullioned window and another with a 2-light stone mullioned window. The first floor contains three pairs of 2-light stone mullioned windows, along with two later or altered windows. The second floor features a continuous 13-light stone mullioned window.
