Description

This is a milepost located on Penistone Road, opposite the Toss O'Coin Public House. It dates from the mid to late 19th century and features a cast iron triangular front with a rounded top, mounted on a stone post. The inscription on the milepost indicates the distances to various locations: Greenfield, Shepley Lane Head, Fulstone, Denby, Holmfirth Dale (3 miles), Cawthorne (3½ miles), and Barnsley (11 miles).
