Description

Moor View Farmhouse is a former dwelling, now only partially occupied, and part of a group. It dates from the 17th or early 18th century, with alterations made subsequently and the eastern part rebuilt in the 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of coursed rubble, rendered, and has a stone slate roof with chamfered gable copings. The north elevation features a partially blocked entrance with a deep lintel, and a later entrance. A former two-light and three-light window with removed mullions is situated above. A brick extension is also present. The south elevation displays one five-light and one two-light double hollow chamfered window, both altered. A 19th-century four-light window with hollow double chamfered windows on each side is visible to the first floor; a three-light window is on the right, and a two-light window is on the left, the mullion having been removed. There are also collapsed lean-to extensions. The east gable includes an entrance and a three-light window, along with a four-light window to the first floor, originally with three further lights, now blocked. Inside, one simple truss shows struts apparently reusing two cruck blades. The loft is supported on massive timbers. The historical significance is amplified by its group value.
