Description

This is an early or mid-18th century farmhouse with an adjoining barn, altered over time, with a mid-19th century addition. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with quoins, and has a stone slate roof with gable copings on moulded kneelers. The barn is attached at a 90-degree angle. The barn has a square cart entry on its north side and a large outshut on the south side. Inside the barn, a single central tie-beam and collar truss is supported on jowelled posts with curved braces; the truss is half-lapped at the apex and takes a diagonal ridge piece. Two trenched purlins run along each pitch. Aisle ties and posts are absent in the outshut. The south gable of the farmhouse has an entrance with a deep lintel, and a three-light window on each floor, each with one mullion removed. A gabled, two-storey addition was constructed to the west in the mid-19th century.
