The dwarf wall and gate piers to Birkby Junior School were built in the late 19th century. The wall is made of hammer-dressed stone, while the gate piers are constructed from ashlar. The piers have a geometric design, being square in section at the base, cylindrical in the middle, and pyramidal at the top, featuring simple mouldings.
