Description
The Church of St David is a Gothic revival church located on Woodhead Road, built between 1839 and 1840 by architect R D Chantrell. A chancel was added in 1887. The church is constructed from deeply coursed dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features a pitched slate roof with roll-top copings.
The nave has seven bays, each with lancet lights that include stained glass and hood moulds. The church has a four-tier tower with diagonal buttresses, a crenellated parapet, and tall pinnacles. The bell chamber contains 2-light louvred openings, and there is a clock on three elevations. The chancel consists of two bays and has a tall three-light stained glass east window. There is a later vestry with shouldered arch openings. Inside, the church features a chancel arch and a west gallery.
