Description
The Church of England Primary School, dated 1841, is a school building constructed from hammer dressed stone with ashlar dressings. It features a stone slate roof with roll top copings on large carved kneelers, along with one ashlar stack and a small ashlar bell cote. The building is single storey plus basement and consists of seven bays. The central bay is gabled and includes a colonette at the apex.
The entrance features a heavily moulded central Tudor arched doorway with a hood mould. Above the doorway is a plaque with the inscription: "ERECTED BY VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTION AIDED BY GRANTS FROM THE NATIONAL SOCIETY AND THE COMMITTEE OF COUNCIL OF EDUCATION AD 1841 The Entrance of thy Words Giveth Life It Giveth Understanding unto the Simple."
On either side of the central bay, there are three bays of 2-light windows with pointed arches and hood moulds. The rear of the building has six windows similar to those on the front.
