Description
Clonlea is a detached house built in 1858, constructed from hammer-dressed stone with an ashlar frontage. The building features rusticated quoins and an ashlar plinth, topped with a hipped stone slate roof. A moulded eaves cornice with a blocking course adds to its architectural detail. The house has two storeys and a three-bay symmetrical facade. The central doorway is accessed by stone steps and has an ashlar surround with a semi-circular fanlight above. An open stone porch with simple Doric columns and pilasters supports a canopy that features a full entablature and blocking course. The ground floor windows are adorned with moulded surrounds and canopies on carved consoles, while the upper floor windows have moulded surrounds and marbled sills supported on carved brackets. On the left side of the house, there is a canted bay with a parapet, featuring two single lights with ashlar surrounds, round arches, keystones, and impost blocks.
