Description
Lower Bradshaw is an early to mid-18th century farmhouse located on Bradshaw Lane, near Slaithwaite. The farmhouse is constructed of coursed millstone grit, with quoins, a plinth, and a rendered west gable. The roof is pitched and covered with stone slates. Carved footstones are also present. Two substantial ashlar stacks, featuring tabling and caps, are a notable feature. The south elevation has a partially blocked doorway with large quoins, tie-stones, and a lintel. There are also two 3-light stone mullioned windows, one 2-light stone mullioned window (with a removed central mullion), all chamfered and recessed, on the ground floor. The first floor of the south elevation contains one 4-light and one 3-light stone mullioned window, also chamfered and recessed. The east elevation has a ground floor door with quoins, tie-stones, and a deep lintel, alongside two windows, one of which is later. The first floor has a 2-light stone mullioned window, chamfered and recessed. A contemporary outshut extension with a catslide roof is attached to the north side, featuring a 6-light stone mullioned window on the ground floor.
