Description
An early 19th-century terrace of three cottages, located on Pike Law Road, Scapegoat Hill, Golcar. The cottages are built of hammer-dressed stone, with pitched stone slate roofs, except for number 5 which has a pitched slate roof. Coped gables are present. The terrace is two storeys high, with a basement to number 5.
The south-east elevation features a basement entrance with a stone surround, and a single 3-light mullioned window. The ground floor has three entrances with stone surrounds, a 4-light mullioned window, a 3-light mullioned window, and three 2-light mullioned windows. On the first floor, there is one 8-light mullioned window where two centre lights have been blocked, three 3-light mullioned windows, and a 5-light mullioned window where two outer lights have been blocked.
The north-west elevation of number 1 has a ground floor entrance with a stone surround, and a 3-light mullioned window. Number 1’s first floor has a 5-light mullioned window with two lights blocked. Number 3’s elevation includes a two-storey lean-to extension constructed of hammer-dressed stone, from which the roof has been removed, and a single 2-light mullioned window. Number 5 shows a variety of openings, some of which have had their mullions removed. A single 2-light mullioned window is present on the north-east gable, at first floor level.
