Description

This is an early to mid-19th century terrace of six houses, known as Bank End, located on Bank End Road in Bolster Moor, Golcar. The houses are built of hammer-dressed stone, with pitched stone slate roofs; the roof of No. 1 has a bitumen covering. No. 1 also features stone brackets and a coped gable.

The east elevation of each house originally had a stone-surrounded entrance, although recent porches have been added to Nos. 3 and 6. The ground floor windows are stone mullioned; the window to No. 2 has been enlarged, and the ground floor of No. 1 has been altered and includes a glass extension. The first floor has stone mullioned windows: Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 6 have six-light windows, No. 2 has a seven-light window, and No. 1 has a six-light window where two mullions have been removed. A continuous pronounced sill band runs along the elevation. A single-storey stone extension is set into the north gable. The west elevation features various single-light windows on the ground floor, and various two and three-light stone mullioned windows on the first floor.
