Description
The building is a former National School, dating to 1818. It is now used as a workshop. Constructed from hammer-dressed stone, it has a stone slate roof with roll top parapets and large square finials on short square bases. The school is single-storied and consists of five bays. A central porch features a crenellated parapet topped with two finials. Above the arched doorway is a plaque that reads "NATIONAL SCHOOL / ERECTED BY WILLIAM CHARLESWORTH / ANNO. DOM. MDCCCXVIII”. Flanking the doorway are two small lancet windows on each side. Two very tall and slender chamfered stone mullioned windows, each with three lights, are located to each side. At the rear, five similar windows are present; the central window is partially hidden by a later extension. The building's listing recognizes its group value.
