Description
Old Hall is a very fine large detached house dated 1700, constructed of hammer dressed stone with some parts rendered. It features quoins and a stone slate roof with hollow chamfered gable copings supported by carved kneelers. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a double pile plan that includes a gabled front and a gabled wing on the right side.
The symmetrical facade has twin gables and three bays, with a plinth. The central doorway is framed by a moulded surround and imposts that support a moulded and arched lintel inscribed with "F T M 1700". To the left and right of the doorway are 12-light mullioned and transomed windows with a king mullion on both floors, along with a 2-light window in each attic gable, all featuring double chamfered detailing.
The right elevation, which includes the projecting wing, has two arched doorways, one small round arched window, and various two and three-light windows, as well as one five-light window, all double chamfered. The left elevation is plain, while the rear elevation has two gables with a 2-light window in each. There is a later doorway with a tiny blind window to the right, a large cross-window, and one five-light window to the left, along with a three-light window on the first floor of each bay, all double chamfered, with some lights featuring early leaded diamond glazing. The hood moulds and continuous drip moulding are very badly eroded.
Inside, the property is said to have a contemporary staircase. Large central ashlar stacks are present in each wing.
